Who Are We?

Backed by 15 years of experience in crafting traditional Mexican clothing.

When you purchase a Xáni garment, you are supporting a community of hundreds of indigenous Mexican artisans, whose only source of income is hand embroidery. We work directly with the indigenous community of De La Sorpresa in the municipality of San Felipe Jalapa de Díaz, in the state of Oaxaca, to craft one-of-a-kind handmade pieces. It’s our mission to share the art of the Sorpresa people with the world. What distinguishes us as artisans and a company are our exclusive designs, crafted solely by hand, and incorporating beautiful exotic colors that consist of leaves, flowers and birds typical of our region. The garments are sewn with a unique 100% cotton thread, known as candle thread. The time it takes the craftsman or craftswoman to finish a garment varies between 5 days to 50 days depending on the type of design

Xání is a word from the Mazatec language that means: PEOPLE WORKING

Traditional Mexican Clothing

The following is a poem written by the artisans of our community:

Hands that embroider

Inspired by colors

Surrounded by birds
Leaves and flowers.

With love she paints

With love they embroider

Combining colors

That everyone falls in love with.
